Something New

I have been spending considerable time lately re-examining the spaces that I have photographed in the past. I have found many things that have significantly changed in the time of a year, different season, even from one day to another, or things that were overlooked such as the interior of a structure.

Returning to the same spot over and over again is a big part of my process, too. As you mentioned, a subtle change in light, weather, or just the right person stumbling into the frame, can turn an ordinary scene into an interesting photograph.

This image feels much more ominous than any of your previous work. Perhaps because the symmetry of the composition is so painfully direct, or that the lines are so clean and linear. The shape of the stairs, lights, and furniture begin to take on the form of a monstrous face.

Scary.
